For plot reasons breaking a soul gem is not something you should do willy-nilly because it has huge consequence
upon breaking a soul gem (or becoming a witch) a character will behave as they might if dropped and reapped
they'll be gone for one (1) OOC week, or one ic day, and when they return it will be with no memories
they will no longer be a puella magi after their gem being destroyed
and by no memories i mean no memories of in-game
BUT there is a way to get your old CR back if you want
after a month and a half of no memories you can choose to have them remember again
but this is at the cost of their wish!! and also they will become a puella magi again, but this time the wish granted is the return of their memories. kyuubey does not have to be involved with this, it just happens due to the way this world works!
they can also contract again before their memories are returned but that makes them a v v weak puella magi and also inable to regain memories
so it is not advisable
